In music, resonance occurs when sounds, echoes, and vibrations mix together, enriching and amplifying the overall musical tone. Many of the best musical instruments possess a high degree of resonance, and without that resonance any sound produced would come out weak and thin. With resonance, a rich variety of sounds come together, building upon each other to create a beautiful musical tone. The same is true for our own voices.

As Christians, we are each given a voice, called to proclaim the gospel—in love, in truth, and with humility. No one single person has a complete picture of God. No one single person understands all of the mysteries of Christian theology. But each of our individual voices resonate together. When we come together in a shared space, each speaking from our own context with the unique voice and understanding that God gave us, our voices build upon each other, enriching and enhancing the overall conversation. No we don’t have all of the answers, and even together we come up short—but God expects us to live and learn and grow in community with each other, building each other up. Creating a beautiful, rich, and full resonance together.

This video series—Sharing Stories • Resonance—was created to provide that space where people from different backgrounds and places of faith can come together, each with their own unique, God-given voice. In each video, an understanding of a topic pertaining to Christianity will be presented by several different people contributing to a more holistic discussion and understanding of the topic than any one of them could have alone. It is our hope that each person watching these videos will listen to this shared discussion and contribute their own voice wherever they are, adding to the overall resonance of understanding.
