Our Story
Parable Media was founded upon an idea and a mission—to serve churches and Christian organizations of all shapes and sizes with a variety of professional digital media services—all to help them more effectively share their stories, and through their stories help to build the kingdom of God. For us at Parable Media this meant serving all churches and Christian organizations, but especially those who may not have the funding or budget to normally support this kind of ministry. There was no readily available blueprint to follow for this type of ministry (especially before Covid-19 hit), so with much prayer and support from our community, we stepped out in faith to create a new ministry.
Parable Media was founded by Jonathan Boggs in the summer of 2018 as a single member LLC. For the first 9 months of its existence, Parable Media was operated as a side gig as Jonathan worked in full-time media ministry at a church in Raleigh, NC. This changed in March of 2019 as Jonathan transitioned from full-time work in a church to work full-time through Parable Media—to serve many different churches and Christian organizations.
Throughout this first year, it became evident that in order for Parable Media to grow beyond Jonathan simply working as a contract worker for various projects, there needed to be a way to generate more income to support the growing ministry. However, this growth could not come at the expense of the churches Parable Media served, so an increase in prices was off the table. After discussion with many of the ministers connected to the churches Parable Media was serving, the decision was made to convert Parable Media from a single member LLC to a nonprofit organization in order to raise funding in addition to the income that already came from projects. This would allow Parable Media to grow past the person of Jonathan to truly become a ministry with the capacity to serve many different churches and Christian organizations.
All of this transition was happening around the same time Covid-19 hit, a difficult time in which many new businesses and organizations were going out of business before ever having a chance to establish themselves. God was good to the ministry of Parable Media, and the ministry continued to grow throughout 2020 and 2021, when it was formally approved by the IRS as a 501c3 nonprofit organization.
Throughout our short history, we at Parable Media strive to follow God’s call to support the kingdom of God here on earth through the many stories we are able to share of the churches and Christian organizations who are doing amazing things for God’s kingdom. We are excited to see this ministry continue to grow and become what God is shaping it to be.
